New material and technical facilities for state inspection agencies of standards and measuring equipment

Conclusions

The program adopted by the Committee of Standards, Measures and Measuring Instruments of constructing specialized premises for the entire system of its local agencies and for re-equipping them with new high-precision instruments is already being put into effect.

The construction of the Ukrainian and Belorussian Republican Scientific-Research Centers for standardization and metrology is now being completed in Kiev and Minsk.

Such constructions have started in Erevan, Alma-Ata, and Dushanbe. The building of 1st-grade laboratories will start at the same time in large industrial centers at the beginning of 1969. Such laboratories will be constructed in Voronezh, Gor’kii, Irkutsk, Kazan’, Karaganda, Rostov, Donetsk, and other cities. Altogether about 40 republican, interregional, regional, and district state inspection laboratories will be constructed according to the new typical plans in the forthcoming five-year plan.

It should be noted that the republican centers and laboratories of all grades are being equipped almost exclusively with Soviet-made instruments, including unique installations and reference instruments developed and produced by the Committee’s system. This equipment has been shown at several international exhibitions, it has been highly appreciated and can be exhibited with success.

It is also important to note that the experience gained in constructing republican centers and LGN’s of all grades can be used successfully in industry and in rendering assistance to the developing countries.
