Abstract

Some typical areas of Mexico were selected to demonstrate the influence of historic (Maya) and recent use of tropical forest regarding botanical composition and status. Instead of the deveasting selective felling a varied and sustained usage of the forests is proposed comprising much more wood species and following an end use oriented marketing.

Zusammenfassung

In einigen typischen Gebieten werden die Auswirkungen des historischen antropogenen Einflusses (Maya), sowie der rezenten selektiven Nutzung auf die botanische Zusammensetzung und den Zustand der mexikanischen Tropenwälder dargelegt. Anstelle des zerstörischen selektiven Fällens wird eine gleichmäßigere nachhaltige Nutzung der holzproduzierenden Wälder mit wesentlich mehr Holzarten nach den Prizipien des “end use oriented marketing” vorgeschlagen.
