Experience with partial resection of the puborectalis muscle

Summary

We have reported 33 adults and 13 children who have undergone partial resection of the puborectalis muscle to correct increasing obstipation, impaction, soiling, incontinence and inability to evacuate the rectum, which could not be improved adequately by training. We recommend the procedure highly.
