Summary and Conclusions
With 40 patients serving as their own controls, the Senokot® method was compared with four others commonly employed in preparing the rectum and sigmoid flexure for sigmoidoscopy (Table 2). The regimen produced a clear field, with little or no need for cleansing with cotton applicators in 80% of cases, and requiring repeated swabbing in only 10%.
The Senokot® method employed in this study is an effective method of preparing the rectum and rectosigmoidal area for sigmoidoscopic examination.
