Summary
Mucocele of the appendix is a rare condition which often presents difficulties in diagnosis. A case report is presented of a 41-year-old white woman with a chief complaint of profound anemia (hematocrit, 16.5%) in whom a mucocele, 3 cm. in diameter, was discovered in the cecum at the base of the appendix. A search of medical literature reveals that anemia has not been described previously in association with this lesion.
