A clinical evaluation of a new cathartic compound

Summary

The physiologic and chemical actions of commonly-used cathartic medication are described. A new combination of known chemical agents having superior purging action, without trauma or interference with hydration or normal physiologic functions of the gastrointestinal system, is discussed. In a series of surgical patients it was proven to be a safe and effective cathartic. Its use and mode of action are discussed.
