Zusammenfassung

Grundlagen

Summary

Background

The diagnosis of an attack of acute pancreatitis can be easily accomplished by means of clearly defined symptom.

Methods

The current diagnostic standards in the diagnosis of acute pancreatitis are reviewed.

Results

Clinical, biochemical and imaging diagnostic procedures are contributing factors for the distinct assessment of the severity of the pancreatitis.

Conclusions

Besides the confirmation of the diagnosis an early conceptional evaluation of etiology and prognosis is mandatory for an adequate therapy.
