Summary
The results show that, although the decrease in impact bending—and modulus of rupture in static bending—is only due to the acid-corrosion of wood, the decrease in bonding strength after the acid-curing of artificial resin glues is caused by the acid-corrosion and the simultanous reduction of the modulus of elasticity of the glue-layer in the joint.
It is evident that the glue-solution should reach a minimump H-value (2,70 in the case of “P 600”) in order to guarantee the best strength properties of the products. To obtain good results and at the same time to avoid the acidcorrosion of the wood, thep H-range between 2,70 and 3,0 should neither be lower, nor exceed these values.
