Determination of position of critical point from amplitude curve of reflected wave

Summary

The simple approximative relation (4) between the distance of the critical point from the sourcer * and the distance of the maximum of the amplitude curve of the reflected wave from the sourcer M was derived. Thus it is possible to determine the position of the critical point from the position of the maximum of the amplitude curve.
