Summary
The political, social, economic and scientific revolution of the world to day is forcing people, more than ever before, to ask themselves the question, where they come from—where they are—and what they want.
Finding a progressive and human answer to this questions is more important than the struggle for one's daily bread or to achieve a higher standard of ving. Technical reviews haveli thus begun to deal with the relation of man to the theoretical and technical sciences. The model and pioneer work of the Verein Deutscher Ingenieure (Association of German Engineers) must be especially mentioned in this respect. The preceding introductory lecture which was helt two years ago, is a contribution to solving this problems.
