Summary
The properties of a wood preservative on pentachlorphenol basis using a solvent produced from Czechoslovakian raw materials were investigated. This comprised the determination of the characteristics of the solvent such as the chemical composition of its aromatic portion, the characteristics of the whole preservative, above all the volatility of pentachlorphenol and of the solvent vapours, and finally the properties of the treated wood. Laboratory and factory tests moreover gave results as to the optimum impregnating process, taking into consideration the present level of technology in Czechoslovakian impregnation plants, the merease in weight and depth of penetration. Impregnated wood specimens produced under factory conditions were used to investigate the drop of pentachlorphenol concentration.
