Summary

Surgical test series on pigs comparing two different techniques of colon anastomoses: the single-layered inverted anastomosis and the so-called invagination or telescopic anastomosis.

Focal points in judging their quality were: technique, testing of the bursting pressure and histology. Whereas the traditional inverting single-layered anastomosis produced narrowing of the lumina, micro-abscesses and thread granulomas, the invagination anastomosis produced no such symptoms.
