Summary

After total cystectomy for bladder cancer the rate of urethral recurrence was 11,2%. There was no relation between urethral recurrence and stage or malignancy grade of the primary tumor. The urethral recurrences were more frequently by bladderneck cancers or multifocal tumors. The importance of simultaneous and prophylactic urethrectomy with cystectomy is emphasized.
