Die traumatische Fazialisparese als interdisziplinäres Problem

Zusammenfassung

An Hand des Krankengutes der I. Hals-, Nasen- und Ohrenklinik der Universität Wien (Vorstand: Prof. DoktorO. Novotny) aus den letzten Jahren wird zum Problem der traumatischen Fazialisparese Stellung genommen und nachgewiesen, daß der Unfallchirurg, welcher in einem Großteil der Fälle der Erstbegutachter ist, durch rechtzeitige Zuziehung des Otologen den Ausgang der Lähmung wesentlich beeinflussen kann. Denn nur die ehebaldigste Einleitung der optimalen Therapie gewährleistet eine komplette Restitution.

Summary

The problems of facial nerve palsies of traumatic origin are discussed by reviewing the material seen at the First Department of Oto-Rhino-Laryngology (Head: Prof. Dr.O. Novotny), University of Vienna Medical School during the past years. In addition, the need for early consultations between traumatic surgeons, who are usually the first to see the patients, and otologists is stressed. These substantially contribute to a favorable prognosis, since complete restitution can only be ensured by early institution of optimum therapeutic measures.
