Abstract
As a part of a geological investigation the influence of petrography on the quality of concrete made entirely of crushed stone agregates was studied. The principal swiss hardrocks—limestones from the Jura mountains and the Alps, quartzitic sandstones, conglomerate, granites and gneisses—were compared. Also the need of water of the test-concrete PC 300 was high, the compressive strength and the bending strength proved to be satisfactory and higher than expected for a traditional concrete. For the limestones, the sandstones, the conglomerate and a fine grained granite the concrete strength was in the same range and higher than for the normal grained granites and the gneisses.
