HIV and AIDS among the deaf

Abstract

With the HIV/AIDS pandemic spreading all over the world, one of the most overlooked groups is the American deaf community. To appereciate the magnitude of HIV-related problems facing the deaf community, one needs to gain insights into the deaf community and the deaf culture. Complications such as differing viewpoints and life experiences greatly affect the avenues of information into the deaf community and the deaf community's receptiveness to the danger of HIV/AIDS. This article provides an overview of the deaf community and it's reaction to the AIDS crisis.
