Barium-enema study findings in asymptomatic patients with rectal polyps

  • Published:
Diseases of the Colon & Rectum

Summary and Conclusions

Barium-enema studies of 200 asymptomatic patients who had been found to have one or more rectal polyps were performed. Significantly positive pathologic conditions (neoplasms) were found in 2.5 per cent of the patients. A significant difference in the frequency of more proximal lesions was seen when patients with pedunculated polyps of the rectum were compared with those having sessile polyps.
