Coloenteric fistulas

Summary

A ten-year experience with 12 cases of spontaneously occurring, preoperatively diagnosed coloenteric fistulas is described. Accurate diagnosis can be achieved most often by barium-enema examination. One-stage resection with primary anastomosis, to restore gastrointestinal continuity, is highly successful, and should be the procedure of choice.
