A class of integral formulations of the Helmholtz equation for an inhomogenous medium

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento C

Summary

It is shown how the Helmholtz equation (and, as a particular case, the Laplace equation) for an inhomogenous medium can be transformed into several integral formulations. Thus the already known formulations, used in numerical studies of wave diffraction by harbours and islands, are seen in the context of a more general theory.
