Summary
In contrast to the results of earlier authors, no correlation was found between the incidence of schizophrenia and the month of birth in 698 patients of the neurological clinic of the University of Bonn. The frequency of precocious imbecility, however, is related to the season of birth. The birth frequency differs in the two sexes, the maxima and minima being shifted by about six months in one sex as compared with the other. In female imbeciles the birth minimum occurs in February, while in male imbeciles it is in August. The difference is significant, but for the time being, no explanation can be given.
