Editor's Note When Gelfoam is used in powder form-as suggested by Rösch, Keller, and Dotter-great caution should be exercised to avoid tissue infarction. Gelfoam pledgets lodge proximally, while powder occludes small arterioles and capillaries and may result in tissue necrosis.
