Abstract

Sr2RuO4 (T c ≈1K) is the first copper-free superconductor isostructural to high-T c copper oxides. The normal state is characterized as an essentially two-dimensional Fermi liquid, with coherent interlayer transport established only at low temperatures. Superconductivity is highly anisotropic but qualitatively different from high-T c superconductivity because of the long coherence length normal to the layer. We will review the curent status of the extensive studies on this superconductor and make comparison with the high-T c superconductors.
