Mastich as an antioxidant

Abstract

Mastich, a resin fromPistacia lentiscus L., family Anacardiaceae, contains terpenolic acids, which apparently act as antioxidants similar to butylated hydroxyanisole. Egyptian farmers have used mastich for centuries as a butteroil preservative.
