Abstract

We present elements of the theory of propagation of cracks in a deformed brittle body. The problem of propagation of cracks is formulated with regard for the forces of interaction between the opposite lips of the crack in the vicinity of its ends. The basic equations of the problem are obtained and their solutions are given for some special cases.
