Abstract
Oil fromDioscoreophyllum cumminsii (Stapf) Diels containscis-5-octadecenoic acid as 84% of its total fatty acids. The unsaturated acids normally found in seed oils are present in small amounts (oleic, 1%, linoleic 5.2%; and linolenic, 0.3%). Other unusual acids present, in minor amounts, arecis-5-hexadecenoic (0.6%), 11-octadecenoic (0.9%) and two polyenoic acids which are probably unsaturated at the 5 position.
