Hierachical classification of physiologically active substances

  • Published:
Theoretical and Experimental Chemistry Aims and scope

Abstract

In a first attempt at a hierarchical classification of physiologically active substances, these substances were divided into two classes corresponding to their effect on the main cellular signaling systems. That some general principles of the chemical structure of drugs do exist has been demonstrated using quantum chemistry methods, artificial intelligence, and biophysical approaches.
