Abstract

A method has been developed for the determination the fluorine content from the induced activity of the short-lived nuclide20F (T-11.4 s; Eλ=1.63 MeV) formed by the reaction19F(d,p)20F. The method has been employed to determine fluorine in zirconium using a small-size 3 MeV deuteron accelerator for activation. The lower limit of fluorine detection is 0.5 ppm at the average deteron current of 0.3 μA.
