Sagnac-type optical gyros

Summary

The Sagnac effect is briefly presented, and passive and active interferometers are defined as «gyros»,i.e. devices for the measurement (and control) of rotations and angular speeds. A project for the assembling and testing of an active ring gyroscope is described: the project is aimed at obtaining a versatile set-up suitable for investigation of the effects of the geometry of the laser cavity and for optimization of the gyroscope operation.

Riassunto

Si presenta brevemente l'effetto Sagnac, e si definiscono come giroscopi gli interferometri Sagnac attivi e passivi: questi sono strumenti per misurare (e controllare) rotazioni e velocità angolari. Si descrive, inoltre, il nostro progetto per realizzare e collaudare un ring laser attivo; il progetto punta ad ottenere un apparato versatile, adatto per studi sugli effetti della geometria della cavità laser sul laser stesso, e per ottimizzare le prestazioni del giroscopio.

Вкратце обсуждается эффект Саньяка. Описываются пассивные и активные интерферометры, т.е. приборы для измерения (и контроля) вращений и угловых скоростей. Предлагается проект для сборки и испытания активного кольцевого гироскопа. Цель проекта-получение прибора для исследования эффектов геометрии лазерного резонатора и для оптимизации действия гироскопа.
