Abstract

This article surveys experimental data demonstrating the occurrence of two types of processes during martensitic transformations (MTs)—accommodation and relaxation. Each of these processes is reflected differently in the actual structure of the transformation products. A correlation is found to exist between structural signs of accommodation and relaxation and the type of MT kinetics.
