Conclusion
The results of our investigation of the general toxicity of compound OF-6435 in a wide range of doses with respect to different experimental animals showed that this anticonvulsant belongs to the class of low-toxicity substances and is well tolerated in the course of a long-term administration. The toxic effects were observed upon the introduction of OF-6435 at high doses and had a clear dose-dependent and reversible character. The presence of a weak embryotoxic (reduced weight of the fetus and retarded cartilage ossification) and gonadotropic (reversible decrease in the sperm concentration) effects, as well as the absence of any teratogenic action and any influence on the generative function (even at the maximum dose studied) suggest that OF-6435 may be more safe with respect to its influence on the embryogenesis and the generative function compared to the other known anticonvulsants.
