Flux parameterization for atmospheric-diffusion models in an industrialized area

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento C

Summary

We applied the profile iterative method proposed by Van Ulden and Holtslag to the Ravenna industrial area, in order to evaluate the Monin-Obukhov length scale from simple meteorological data and with the purpose of making a stability classification using the Similarity Theory now accessible for air pollution models. Moreover, we investigated the relationship between the Monin-Obukhov length and Pasquill-Gifford stability classes, comparing our results with those of Golder who defined a correspondence for a wide range of terrain roughness values.
