Total cloudiness and high-cloud frequency on eastern sicily

Summary

High clouds are the main responsibles for the increase of collimated radiation coming from the circumsolar corona. It is, therefore, required a quantitative evaluation of such a radiation in order to know whether it is convenient to use low focusing systems in the mirror solar plants. For this purpose we have analysed the diurnal evolution (from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) of the cloud cover and of the high-cloud frequency over eastern Sicily in which the EURELIOS solar plant is located. The results show that 1) the high-cloud frequency over the Adrano area exceeds of (50÷100)% that observed in other stations of eastern Sicily; 2) with the exception of summer months, in which the cloud cover is scanty, the high-cloud frequency increases with the solar elevation. So far, it has not been possible to quantify the circumsolar radiation (which varies from a few to 30% of the direct one) as a function of clouds of different kind and thickness.

Le nubi alte sono le maggiori responsabili dell'invio di radiazione collimata proveniente dalla corona circumsolare. Una valutazione quantitativa di tale radiazione è necessaria per sapere se è conveniente utilizzare sistemi a bassa focalizzazione nelle centrali solari a specchi. A tale scopo è stata analizzata l'evoluzione diurna (dalle ore 7 alle ore 19) della copertura nuvolosa e della frequenza di nubi alte sull'area della Sicilia orientale in cui è situata la centrale solare EURELIOS. I risultati mostrano che 1) la frequenza di nubi alte sulla zona di Adrano supera del (50÷100)% quella osservata in altre stazioni della Sicilia orientale, 2) ad eccezione dei mesi estivi in cui la nuvolosità è scarsa, la frequenza di nubi alte cresce con l'altezza del sole sull'orizzonte. Non è stato ancora possibile associare la quantità di radiazione circumsolare (che varia da qualche % al 30% di quella diretta) a nubi di diverso tipo e spessore.

Высокие облака являются основной причиной увеличения коллимированного излучения, приходящего от околосолнечной короны. Для количественной оценки такого излучения требуется знать, можно ли использовать слабофокусирущие системы в зеркале солнечных концентраторов. Для этой цели мы анализируем дневное изменение (с 7 часов утра до 7 часов вечера) облачного покрова и частоты высокой облачности на востоке Сицилии, где расположена солнечная установка EURELIOS. Полученные реультаты показывают: 1) частота высокой облачности над областью Адрано превышает (50÷100)%, что наблюдалось на других станциях восточной Сицилии; 2) за исключением летних месяцев, в течение которых облачный покров незначительный, частота высокой облачности увеличивается с высотой Солнца над горизонтом. До сих пор невозможно оценить околосолнечное излучение (которое изменяется от нескольких % до 30% прямого излучения), как фкцию облаков различных типов и толщины.
