Some observations of the urban heat island in Rome during the summer season

  • Published:
Il Nuovo Cimento C

Summary

In this paper, after a summary of the measurements effected, we analyse the patterns of the air temperature, humidity and wind over the city of Rome obtained in a survey carried out in the Summer season. From these the effect of the urban heat island on the above-said fields appears clearly. In particular, the heat dome over the city reaches more than 300 m and alters the wind flow, which is a sea-land breeze.
