Summary
We describe a multispectral camera in the wavelength range of (0.35 ÷ 1.050) μm. VNIR constitutes the visible channel of the VIMS (Visual near-Infrared Mapping Spectrometer) instrument designed for the Craf/Cassini NASA mission to the Hamburga asteroid and the outer giant planets, Jupiter and Saturn. Possible scientific investigations are analysed and a detailed technical description of the VNIR experiment is given.
