The next speaker, I.Evenko, the Department of the National Economic Plan of GOSPLAN2), U.S.S.R., discussed the problem of statistics from the point of view of the planners. Below we reproduce the last part of the report of his speech where he pointed to the necessity of a well coordinated and highly mechanised statistical apparatus to provide the planning organs with processed statistical data. Contrary to A. Yezhov he maintained that the shortage of electronic equipment was not a result of shortcomings in the production of such machines, but was due to inefficient use of them.
