Measurement of the period of nonsinusoidal signals with a dc component

Abstract

A method is proposed for measuring the period of distorted signals with a dc component. Its properties and systematic errors are investigated. The effects of instrumental errors of measuring circuits used to measure sampled signal periods and the effects of higher harmonic components are discussed. The principal results of theoretical analysis are confirmed by mathematical simulation of the measuring process.
