Abstract
The main design relations, accuracy estimates, and the results of metrological investigations are presented of an electromagnetic tracer for a towed underwater probe whose magnetometric output data are processed with a computer. The tracer makes it possible to increase the accuracy of measurement of the depth of underwater pipelines in the 3 to 10 m range to 5–6% or better and to reduce the efforts of pipeline tracing in navigable rivers by more than an order of magnitude. Methods for additional reduction of pipeline tracing errors are shown.
