Abstract
A simple method has been devised for calculating the parameters of a single-frequency laser beam. The laser beam penetrates through an axisymmetric inhomogeneity and the saturation effect is taken into account. Two criteria are defined for approximately keeping the beam Gaussian. Some results of the calculations are illustrated.
