Abstract
The shelf life of a reference material is determined by the stability of its composition and properties, and that of natural gas on prolonged storage is dependent on the cylinder material. The best stability is provided by cylinders made of aluminum and stainless steel. The position of a carbon-steel cylinder does not affect the stability of the physical properties when samples of the reference material are taken for analysis.
