Abstract
It is proposed that the known metrological characteristics of instruments be used to describe the qualifications of operators who perform visual inspections. A procedure for computer-aided testing of operators is described. The advantages of the description include its quantitative nature, independence of the properties of the inspected object, the possibility of objective comparison of professional qualifications and selection of operators, as well as the possibility of predicting operator errors.
