Abstract

Computational algorithms for use in the measurement of camshafts and crankshafts on automatic and automatized units developed by the Central Research Institute of Technology are described. In particular, the angle datum and stroke datum are determined; the off-roundness of the bearing journals and cam heel is calculated; the coaxial misalignment (run-out) of the bearing journals and cam heels are calculated and made allowance for in the measurement of the length of the stroke; the relative angular position of the cams is calculated; and the diameters of the crankshaft journals and dimension of the crank and the relative angular position of the crankpins are calculated.
