Etude morphologique et systématique des genresParadoxia etAnkyra (Chlorococcales)

Morphological and systematical studies in the genera Paradoxia and Ankyra (Chlorococcales)

The general morphology of someParadoxia andAnkyra (Chlorococcales, Chlorophyceae) from Switzerland and Turkey, and the fine structure of their appendages is described. The fine structure of bothParadoxia andAnkyra is similar. These appendages are leaf-like and covered with curved ridges. However, in contrast to this main character, someAnkyra from one sample of lake Léman (Switzerland) have a horsetail-like appendage. A hypothetical synonymy ofParadoxia andAnkyra, and the problem of speciation in both these genera is discussed. More informations on life-cycle and further cytological studies are required before any conclusions.
