Organic Chemistry

The iodination of norbornene and norbornadiene with phosphorus triiodide in the presence and in the absence of weak electrophiles (arylsulfenamides orN-chloramines) and with elemental iodine was studied. Depending on the reaction conditions, the reactions resulted in mono- or diiodides of the norbornene and norbornadiene series. All the compounds obtained were characterized by1H and13C NMR spectra.
