Studies on the behavior of meiotic protoplasts

Abstract

A method for the enzymatic isolation of meiotic protoplasts from two species of liliaceous plants is described. Protoplasts can be produced from each meiotic stage with more than 70% survival. If produced at prophase, most of them can be cultured through the meiotic cycle after cell-wall regeneration.
