Abstract

Based on the plastic-dynamic equations, the asymptotic behaviour of the near-tip fields for a plane stress tensile crack propagating in a power-law material has been studied in this paper. It is shown that the stress and strain singularities are, respectively, of the order\(\left( {\ln \frac{A}{r}} \right)^{\frac{1}{{n - 1}}} \) and\(\left( {\ln \frac{A}{r}} \right)^{\frac{n}{{n - 1}}} \), whereA is a constant which is related to the size of plastic region,r is the distance to the crack tip,n is the power-law exponent.
