Biologischer Nachweis von Befruchtungsstoffen bei Hecht und Äsche

Summary

The fertilizing substances (Gamons or Fertilizins) ofEsox lucius andThymallus vulgaris are beeing examined. Apart from the well known effects of these two substances of ovum and sperm, the following effects have also been demonstrated:

  1. (1)

    If added to a 50 vol. % diluted sperm-liquor of the pike, the species-specific sperm shows a prolongated duration of motility. This effect can be inhibited through heating, or by addition of a 0,5 to 1 vol. % of egg-homogenate of the pike.

  2. (2)

    Pike sperms give an agglutination with egg-homogenate only, as againstThymallus-sperms which agglutinates also with species-specific ovarian fluid. Mutual heteroagglutination between pike andThymallus vulgaris has been demonstrated.

  3. (3)

    Paralysis of the sperms brought about byThymallus-liquor can be completely abolished by the antagonistic effect of pike egg-homogenate orThymallus-ovarian fluid.

  4. (4)

    The possibilities of the practical application of the above results to the artificial insemination of fishes are given below.
