Tuberculosis of the neural arch

A report of four cases

Summary

Four cases of spinal tuberculosis involving the posterior neural elements are reported; all the patients were from Africa. The condition is rare and its incidence may be different in different races. Neural arch involvement is likely to be associated with neurological complications.

Résumé

Présentation de quatre cas de tuberculose rachidienne postérieure. Tous les malades porteurs de cette lésion sont des immigrants d'Afrique subsaharienne. On insiste sur la rareté d'une telle localisation dans la littérature et sur le fait que sa fréquence peut varier selon qu'elle concerne différentes races humaines. Il faut également souligner que l'atteinte de l'arc vertébral postérieur s'accompagne habituellement de troubles neurologiques.
