Abstract

Within an European Union funded research project, a series of standard tests was devised in order to evaluate the technical performance of release agents in general and vegetable oil based ones in particular. In this paper, these tests are described in some detail.

They are divided in two main fields of investigation: interaction of the release agents with the concrete surfaces directly in contact with them; interaction of the release agents with the moulds. Such aspects as the adherence concrete-mould, corrosion effects in steel moulds, the effects of vibration and heating, the number of re-utilisations without cleaning the moulds and the efficiency period, have been addressed in this research program.
