Abstract
A circuit is described which uses a digital technique to store permanently the peak value of an action potential or other bioelectric event. An oscillator feeds pulses into a chain of binary dividers, the outputs of which are converted to analogue form and compared with the input signal, hence the output assumes the peak value of the event, provided that the slew rate of the signal does not exceed the maximum output slew rate of 1400 V s−1, or the peak value may not be reached (depending on the waveform of the signal). The basic resolution is better than 2%, and can be increased by suppressing signals below a preset threshold. The design is low cost, as conventional t.t.l. circuitry is used.
Sommaire
