Calibration of air microphones for phonocardiography

Medical and biological engineering Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

Several existing methods for the calibration of air microphones for phonocardiography are briefly described and compared.

The results of calibrating some types of air microphone are given, and the influence of the coupling of the microphone with the human chest wall is discussed.

For practical applications, the microphone sensitivity to ambient noise should be compared with that to the cardiovascular sound to be detected at human chest wall.

Sommaire
